Decision guide

Which India eVisa should a UK traveller choose?

A short guide to picking the right category based on the purpose of your visit.

Holiday or visiting friends

Choose the Tourist eVisa. The 5-year option is ideal if you have family in India and visit often.

Client meetings or trade fair

Choose the Business eVisa — not the tourist visa, even for a brief one-day meeting.

Surgery, IVF or Ayurveda

Choose the Medical eVisa; have your invitation letter ready before applying.

Conference paper or panel

Choose the Conference eVisa if the organiser holds MEA and MHA clearances.

Mixed business + leisure

The Business eVisa permits incidental sightseeing during the validity period.

Long-term study or work

None of the eVisas cover study or paid employment — apply for the relevant regular visa at the Indian High Commission in London.

Universal process

How every India eVisa application works
